Winstone looks at health risks of oral sex - BBC3
Tabloid favourite Jaime Winstone is to front a BBC3 documentary exploring the health risks associated with oral sex.
The 60-minute Leopard Films production will see the actress reveal the link between this type of sexual contact and the rising number of oropharyngeal cancer cases among young people in the UK.
The actress, who starred in films including Kidulthood and Made In Dagenham, will also investigate how the rare cancer is transmitted and who is most at risk. Winstone has appeared on BBC3 before, in ill-fated kung-fu drama Phoo Action, which was commissioned for a full series but ultimately axed.
The documentary, to be produced by Leopard's Jane Merkin, will form part of a wider slate of factual programming on the digital channel, which controller Danny Cohen is set to outline at next month's Sheffield Doc Fest.
BBC3 has a history of commissioning documentaries tackling often taboo subjects.
Six-part series Baby Beauty Queens averaged 436,600 (1.8%) viewers as part of the Adult Season earlier this year, while 2008 documentary Sex... With Mum And Dad was watched by 301,000 (1.30%).
